Absolutely! The colorant is made of organic (vegetable-based) pigments, combined with a non-toxic binder to make sure it stays on the grass. It’s safe for people and pets (even if your dog eats the grass). 

Also, when you color your lawn, it eliminates (or reduces - your choice) the use of fertilizers/chemicals needed to achieve green lawn. Some of these brands contain dangerous chemicals and PFAS (forever chemicals) that get released into the environment and the stormwater. Please research the brand you use (through an independent source) to see if it contains any of these harmful ingredients.

The short answer is: 2 - 3 months.

The longer answer - it depends on a lot of factors, the main ones are:

• the Season - Is your lawn in a dormant or a high growth season?
• the Condition and Health of Your Lawn - Is the colorant being used to enhance the color of reasonably healthy lawn, dead lawn, or to cover up diseased patches? 

The concept is very similar to coloring hair, in that, the roots are going to come in with what the “true” color is. 

So, if the lawn is in a high growth season, the deep green color will get trimmed off the top, a little bit, each time it is mowed. And since it's being mowed frequently, the color-enhanced grass is being cut off the top faster. If it’s in a dormant season, it won’t need to be mowed as much and it will last for a longer amount of time. 

Either way, once the “color-enhanced grass” is mowed off, you’ll have the true color of your lawn growing in. When that happens and you prefer having a lush green lawn again, we’re here for you! Give us a call!

The two most important things are - 1) the lawn is at a reasonably short length or recently mowed

2) the lawn is free of debris such as leaves, twigs and animal poop, (otherwise, these will be colored green as well).

In order to make sure the green goes on your lawn and NOWHERE else, there will be at least 2 members of our team coloring your lawn. 

The first thing we’ll do is assess your lawn and discuss the best strategy in order to insure that the only thing that gets green is your lawn and NOT the concrete or surrounding environment.

You might notice us spraying the areas near the edge of your lawn with water. This is to insure that if some colorant gets on something other than your grass, we can get it off easily before we leave. If the surface is wet, it usually only needs a little more water to get the green off easily. If we need to clean a dry surface of colorant, we will use a biodegradable formula that’s safe for lawns and pets. 

After doing the precision work of coloring the edges, we’ll color the center of the grass, carefully pack up our equipment, and notify you that we’re done. 

It’ll take about an hour to completely dry after application (depending on the weather). On hot days, it can possibly dry much quicker. We ask that you keep all pets and people OFF the grass until it is completely dry. 

When the colorant is wet it will get on paws and feet. Once it gets tracked onto other surfaces, it does NOT come off easily. Trust us on this!

If you’d like to color a lawn that will experience heavy foot traffic, it’s best to have it colored at least a day before. 

The colorant becomes part of the grass blade and you can treat it just as you normally would before it was colored. 

Keep the same mowing and trimming schedule. The growth of the grass won’t be affected by the colorant. The only exception is, if you color dormant Bermuda grass in the winter, it may come out of dormancy (turn green again) faster than if it wasn’t colored. 

Since it takes more water, fertilizer, and effort to get a lawn green, than it does to keep it alive - you might find that once it’s colored you can reduce your efforts and resources (water / fertilizer) and still maintain a healthy lawn. 

If you’re unsure of the health of your lawn, it’s a good idea to check the color of the roots growing in, every few weeks. This is a good indicator of the health of your lawn.
